Why we always doubt our size (and how to get it right)

Your size changes from one brand to the next because there's no standard. Here are the measurements that actually work.

You're not imagining it: you're one size in one brand and a different one in the next. Swimwear sizing isn't standardised, and every brand works from its own pattern.

That's why the label matters less than the tape measure. Our exact measurements are in the size guide. Three measurements will get you there almost every time: bust, waist and hip circumference at the widest point.

Measure yourself without thick clothing and without pulling the tape tight. And do it in the afternoon: the body changes more over the course of a day than you'd think.

If you fall between two sizes, there's a simple rule. For bottoms, size up if they're fixed and stay with the smaller size if they tie, because the ties give you some leeway. For tops, bust measurement rules, not cup size.

And if you're still unsure, write to us with your measurements before you buy. We'd much rather spend ten minutes on that than process a return.
